Former Nebraska-Kearney wrestler Tervel Dlagnev qualified for the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Sunday night in Iowa City, IA by defeating Les Sigman, a former Nebraska-Omaha Maverick, in the finals of the men’s freestyle 120 kg/264.5 lbs. class. Since leaving UNK, Dlagnev has done well in variou international tournaments and has already beaten some of the world’s best. He will enter the London Olympics in August with solid chance at a medal, even Gold.
An Arlington (Texas) High School graduate, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram featured Dlagnev this weekend.
