The Omaha Storm Chasers and Iowa Cubs split Thursday’s doubleheader at Werner Park as the Cubs beat the Chasers, 4-1 in game number one. Southpaw Mike Montgomery (3-2) pitched a victory for Omaha in game two as he held the I-Cubs to just one run over two hits for the complete game victory.
Sean O’Sullivan (4-4) was hit with the loss in game one after tossing 6.1 innings of three-run ball. Yuniesky Betancourt went 3 for 4 at the plate. In game two, Montgomery tossed a two-hit performance on the mound. Seven Storm Chasers contributed offensively with at least one hit and Wil Myers led the charge with three hits and four runs batted in, including a three-run shot in the second inning.
