Gov. Dave Heineman’s office has released an update on the Nebraska Children’s Commission. The governor has replaced on appointee and named the legislative designee for the commission which is to help guide improvements to the state child welfare system.
The announcement by the governor’s office is as follows:
The commission will include the following voting member appointed by the Governor:
Community representatives from the southeastern service area: Jennifer Nelson of Lincoln, School Psychotherapist with Lincoln Public Schools.
The original appointee, Patrick Ethridge of Beatrice, has resigned his appointment.
Additionally, as outlined by law, the commission will include the following ex-officio member:
Chair of the Legislature’s Judiciary Committee: State Senator Brad Ashford of Omaha. Senator Ashford has designated State Senator Colby Coash of Lincoln to serve as the Judiciary Committee’s Representative to the commission.
The 18-member commission was created by Legislative Bill 821 in the 2012 legislative session.
