Three-time champion Danielle Lemek of Doniphan advanced to the semifinals of the Nebraska Girls Match Play Championship after victories over Tori Peers of Grand Island 7 and 5 and Kaitlyn Krzyzanowski of Scottsbluff 6 and 5 in the quarterfinals. The semifinals begin at 8 a.m. this morning and the championship tees off just before 1 p.m at York Country Club. Hannah Thiele of Wahoo will take on Abbie Hunke of Snyder in the other semifinal.
On the boys side, the quarterfinals are today. Zach Taylor of Omaha won both of his matches and will face York’s Leighton Thomas, whose father, Bill, is the head pro at the host course. The other quarterfinal matchups include Omaha’s Andrew Hansen vs. Kearney’s Tyler Dowling, Omaha’s Mitchell Ryan vs. Bellevue’s Greg Stanek and Grand Island’s Cale Benson vs. Omaha’s Tommy Hamilton.
