Matt Rusch held down the Saltdogs (9-10) lineup as the Winnipeg Goldeyes shutout Lincoln 9-0 in at Haymarket Park Tuesday night. Rusch (2-0) worked seven innings, allowing just five hits while walking one and striking out five. Rusch, and reliever Craig James, did not allow a Saltdogs runner past first base after the third inning.
Winnipeg opened the game’s scoring with a four-run rally with two outs in the fifth, highlighted by a Price Kendall two-run triple. Pete Parise (3-1) went five innings, allowing four runs on seven hits in his first start of the season. This marks the second time the Saltdogs have been shut out this season.
