The Omaha Storm Chasers finished off a four-game sweep of the Round Rock Express with an 8-6 victory on Sunday afternoon. Wil Myers and Tony Abreu paced the offensive effort as each contributed with two RBI. Reliever Blaine Hardy (1-1) picked up the win as he blanked Round Rock (27-37) over his four innings of relief.
Round Rock scored five runs in the fourth as the Express roughed up starting pitcher Sean O’Sullivan with a two-run double, an RBI double and back-to-back run-scoring singles to put Omaha in a 6-3 hole.
Abreu hit a two-run shot in the bottom of the sixth to pull the Storm Chasers within one. Omaha tallied three runs in the bottom of the eighth to take an 8-6 lead. David Lough started the rally with his RBI single to center field. The next batter, Anthony Seratelli was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, to force in a run while Ramirez’ sac fly scored Abreu for the final run of the contest.
Tommy Hottovy worked a perfect ninth inning to earn his fifth save of the season. Sunday’s win pushes the Storm Chasers home record to a Pacific Coast League best, 27-9 and a 10-game lead over the Iowa Cubs in the division. Omaha begins a three-game series in Iowa, Monday night.
