Salvador Perez and Tony Abreu combined for five hits and six runs batted in as Omaha overpowered Iowa, 9-4, Tuesday afternoon in the second of three meetings at Principal Park. The Storm Chasers won their seventh straight to improve to 41-25 and widen their lead to 12 games over the Cubs in the American Conference North Division. Omaha has totaled 61 runs on 89 hits during the winning streak.
Omaha starter Jake Odorizzi earned the win after giving up two runs on four hits across 5 1/3 innings. The young right-hander struck out seven and has now fanned 17 over his last 12 innings. Francisley Bueno tossed 2 2/3 scoreless frames in relief before yielding a two-run home run to Luis Valbuena in the ninth that accounted for the final margin.
