Nebraska’s economy is expected to grow this fall, but University of Nebraska-Lincoln Bureau of Business Research Director Eric Thompson tells us they expect very slow growth.
Thompson says there is some positive news as well in their latest economic indicator.
“Once again saw an expansion of manufacturing hours in the state,” Thompson says. ” That’s a positive”.
Thompson says there was a bit of an increase in initial unemployment claims, like the rest of the country. He says that’s also a concern for the future.
The bureau’s latest economic indicator shows the second decline in three months.
Thompson says the rising value of the dollar will weaken Nebraska’s agricultural and manufacturing export sector, an important component of Nebraska’s economic growth.
