A fun filled day is planned on June 23rd to celebrate our Nebraska and Iowa veterans. Will Ackerman is the spokesman for the VA Nebraska – Western Iowa Health Care System and says veterans and current military members will have an opportunity to receive information on community resources, veteran service offices, college and universities, employment assistance, medical benefits and much more.
Ackerman says along with providing valuable information veterans are encouraged to bring their families along for a fun filled day. The public is invited to enjoy the entertainment as well. There is festival seating so you will need to bring your own lawn chairs or blankets.
Nine bands will perform throughout the day. Ackerman says all of the bands donated their time. The Nebraska National Guard 43rd Army Band will also perform at the end of the day.
There will be children’s activities and food available to purchase. This will take place on the historic VA clinic grounds at 600 S 70th Street in Lincoln. Parking at that location will be limited to those with handicap permits. Free parking is available at Lincoln East High School and a free shuttle will run between the school and the VA several times each hour. The festival again is June 23rd from 9:45 am to 8:30 pm.
