University of Nebraska Medical Center Chancellor Harold Maurer and nine top UNMC leaders will tour the state and visit nine communities from June 26th and 27th. Chancellor Maurer says the purpose of these visits is to learn about community needs and to provide updates as to what is happening at UNMC.
Stops include Alliance, Broken Bow, Chadron, Lexington, McCook, North Platte, Scottsbluff, Sidney and Valentine.
Chancellor Maurer says health care reform and the Med Center’s rise in national rankings in primary care, rural medicine and research programs will also be discussed.
Leaders will also outline plans for a “Building a Healthier Nebraska” project that includes a new facility at the University of Nebraska – Kearney location for their science [program as well as nursing and allied heath. There is also a $370-million cancer center planned in Omaha.
The public is invited to community receptions in Scottsbluff on June 26th and in Alliance and Chadron on June 27th.
