Attorney General Jon Bruning expresses disappointment in the United States Supreme Court decision to uphold the federal healthcare law of 2010.
Bruning’s office released the following statement:
“I’m disappointed with the Court’s decision to give the federal government unlimited authority over every American’s life. Clearly the Constitution doesn’t allow Congress to dictate every detail of our lives, but that’s where this decision leads us. The federal government now has the power to direct our actions and penalize us for non-compliance.”
Nebraska joined 25 other states in challenging the law in court. Nebraska became one of six executive committee states pressing the issue before the Supreme Court.
President Obama signed the bill into law March 23, 2010.
