Wahoo’s Haley Thiele shot a two-under 68 to lead the Nebraska girls into a first place tie with Iowa after the first round of the annual Junior Girls Four-State Championship being held at Sedalia Country Club in Missouri.
Thiele is teamed up with Danielle Lemek (+3), Sarah Pravecek (+9), Abbie Hunke (+10) and Annie Pearson (+10) for an overall team score of 300. Nebraska and Iowa are 12 shots ahead of Missouri and 29 ahead of Kansas. Individually, Thiele trails only Iowa’s Jessie Sindlinger who finished the opening round at -3. The second and final round started at 8 a.m. this morning as golfers will battle temperature that will exceed 100 later today.
