Nebraska Humane Society officers are getting call after call to check on animals left outside during this heat wave. Spokesperson Pam Wiese says their officers have been issuing citations to pet owners who leave their animals outside without shade and no water.
Over the past few days Humane Society owners have taken several dogs back to the shelter for treatment of heat related illness. Wiese says so far, no animal deaths have been reported due to the heat.
Wiese says anyone with concern about the safety of a pet left outside in this extreme heat is advised to call their local animal control agency and file a report.
