Laurel’s Mitchell Klooz held off Zach Taylor of Omaha in the final round to win the Junior Amateur Championship on Wednesday at Norfolk Country Club. Klooz had an eight shot lead heading into the round, but Taylor shot a six-under 66 to make a run. However, Klooz finished with three straight birdies to finish one under and win by three.
Kearney’s Elizabeth Lydiatt beat Fremont’s McKayla Anderson 1-up to win the State Women’s Match Play Championship at Awarii Dunes in Axtell. It’s Lydiatt’s fourth match-play title and first since 2000.
