Nebraska-Omaha hockey coach Dean Blais announced sophomore goalie Ryan Massa, who led the team in wins last season, is taking a year off for personal reasons. Massa will not lose any years of eligibility. In goal this year for the Mavericks will be senior John Faulkner and freshmen Dayn Belfour, who is the son of hockey hall of famer Ed Belfour.
“We are fortunate to have John Faulkner and Dayn Belfour returning as well as incoming freshman Anthony Stolarz joining our roster, and we think all three will do a very good job for us,” coach Blais said.
Massa led the Mavericks last year with seven wins, a goals-against average of 2.60 and a save percentage of .914.
