Chantae McMillian started day one of the Heptathlon, competing in four of the seven events. She holds the Nebraska school record in that event. She finished sixth in her heat in the 100 m hurdles and cleared 5’5 in the high jump. With the shot put and 200 m run scheduled for later today, McMillian is 31st in the overall standings.
Carl Myerscough was a three-time NCAA champion and five-time All-American during his Husker career in the shot put. Representing the host Great Britain, he finished 14th in his group in the prelims and did not qualify.
In basketball, former Husker All-Big 12 performer Aleks Maric scored two points, three rebounds and a blocked shot in just seven minutes as Australia beat China 81-61. Ade Dagunduro hyperextended his knee in Tuesday’s game against Lithuania and did not play against the U.S. Nigeria suffered a 156-73 setback against the gold medal favorites, who set an Olympic record for points scored.
