In a consolation game at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA., the kids from Kearney went out in record setting style, defeating Germany’s Ramstein Air Base 17-1. They give the state of Nebraska their first Little League World Series win and in the process, set a tournament record by scoring 15 runs in the second inning.
13-year old Jared Wegner, son of coach Brad Wegner, went 3 for 4 with a homer and five RBIs. The boys are not done yet. They plan to play an exhibition game with another World Series newcomer, Uganda, on Wednesday morning. Uganda is the first team from Africa to advance to this tournament.
