Scores by Nebraska high school graduates on a crucial college entrance exam exceeded the national average in all subjects.
The Nebraska Department of Education reports that 75% of Nebraska 2012 high school graduates met the English goal on the ACT college entrance exam, compared to 67% nationally. In reading, 59% of Nebraska graduates passed, compared to 52% nationally.
Scores in math and science were lower, but still better than the national average: 51% in math, compared to 46% nationally; 36% in science, compared to 31% nationally.
The average ACT score by Nebraska high school graduates as 22, compared to 21.1 nationally. Nebraska graduates scored 22.1 a year ago. A perfect ACT score is 36.
Nearly 80% of Nebraska’s high school graduates took the ACT exam, 16,581 students.
