When it comes to the first team offense and defense, Bo Pelini admits this Husker team is perhaps further along than any other team he’s coach at Nebraska. What’s interesting, is that there are some freshmen who are ready to step in. If there was a game tomorrow, Pelini says there’s a few guys who would play.

We also focus on sophomore Josh Mitchell. The 5’11, 155 pounder earned some playing time at cornerback last season and is one of several guys fighting for an expanded role this season. Mitchell sees the arrival of Terry Joseph as the new defensive backs coach as a way to start fresh. Mitchell makes up for his lack of size with great speed and toughness, but he’s added a third component to his game and that’s the mental aspect of football.
