A 75-year-old Kansas man died this morning at the Nebraska State Fair after his antique tractor slipped off the flatbed of a truck and on top of him.
The Nebraska State Patrol reports Charley DeWeese of Thayer, KS died at the scene of the accident. The patrol say DeWeese was loading his 1936 John Deere tractor on the truck when the right rear tire slipped off the ramp. DeWeese fell from the tractor. The tractor flipped off the ramp, pinning him underneath.
The accident occurred in the east overflow parking lot on the grounds of the State Fair at Fonner Park in Grand Island. The Fair set a record for the longest antique tractor parade on Saturday. Many of the participants parked their tractors in the overflow lot.
