We will feel the impact of now Hurricane Isaac in Nebraska. Triple-A Nebraska’s Rose White says we can expect to see a price hike at the pump. Refineries and oil rigs in the path of the storm closed several days ago. That combined with the upcoming Labor Day holiday are the reasons for the increase in gas prices.
AAA predicts the increase will be temporary and there is no shortage of gas. If that becomes an issue the federal government will release supplies from the reserve to meet the demand. AAA asks that drivers resist panic buying of gasoline and continue to purchase as needed. Prices will fall once the storm passes and refineries are operational however that could be several weeks down the road.
