Nebraska-Kearney outgained Washburn 349-291, but Washburn used three UNK turnovers to pull out a 24-14 win, spoiling the Lopers debut in the MIAA conference. The Lopers led early taking a 7-0 lead, but Washburn scored 17 unanswered to take the lead for good.
Lopers QB Aric Kaiser threw for 203 yards and two touchdowns and Tommy Flanagan had 12 carries for 64 yards. The Lopers had three long drives in the first quarter and only scored once. One drive ended in a missed 26 yard field goal and another drive stalled at the two-yard line.
