The Nebraska soccer team (2-4-0) picked up its second win of the season with a 2-1 victory over the Cincinnati Bearcats on a rainy afternoon at Gettler Stadium. Each team got off 19 shots and the Huskers held a slim 5-to-3 advantage in corner kicks, but two freshmen stepped up for NU.
Freshman Alex Massey scored her first career goal just 6:42 into the game when she put in a header, following a corner kick from Caroline Gray. The two teams then went scoreless for nearly 80 minutes, until Katie Kraeutner scored her second goal of the season to put Nebraska up 2-0 at 84:29. Cincinnati’s Mackenzie Grause scored less than 10 seconds later to cut Nebraska’s lead in half.
The Huskers return home to the Nebraska Soccer Field on Saturday, Sept. 8, when they host Southeast Missouri State at 1 p.m.
