Tuesday marks the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy and there will be remembrance ceremonies in nearly every Nebraska community. At the Strategic Air and Space Museum near Ashland, volunteers are busy placing 2,977 American flags on the front lawn. Each flag represents and honors an individual who perished during the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.
Executive Director Scott Tarry says the public is invited to “walk amongst the flags and remember those who were lost in the attacks as well as emergency responders who so willingly sacrificed their lives in an effort to serve and protect others.”
The “Field of Remembrance” will be on display Tuesday, September 11th through Sunday, September 16th.
