The No. 1 Nebraska volleyball team survived was pushed by the No. 19 Kentucky Wildcats in the the final match of the 2012 Players Challenge as the Huskers held on for a 3-1 victory, (25-19, 23-25, 25-22, 25-22) in front of 4,163 fans at the Coliseum.
All-American Gina Mancuso led Nebraska with 17 kills on 35 swings for a hitting percentage of .400. Morgan Broekhuis followed with 15 kills on 36 swings for a .306 hitting percentage.

Creighton won its second tournament in three weeks, sweeping host Northern Colorado to win the Northern Colorado Classic in Greeley, Colo. Scores of the match were 25-22, 25-21, 25-15. Creighton is now off to an 8-1 start, while Northern Colorado dropped to 7-2.
Leah McNary led Creighton with 4 kills on .481 hitting, with Kelli Browning owning 13 kills on .571 hitting. Kate Elman led the defense with 15 digs, while the Jays served up six aces on the night. Creighton had 39 kills, 44 digs and seven blocks while hitting .278.
Creighton’s Heather Thorson, Megan Bober and Kelli Browning were named to the All-Tournament Team. Creighton returns to the floor next Friday when it opens MVC play with a 6 pm home match vs. Missouri State.
