Dodge County authorities are still looking into the cause of a Fremont boy’s death.
The body of a 16-year-old Brandon Kamphaus was found Sunday by members of a volunteeer search team.
Kamphaus vanished on Friday and was last seen that morning as he prepared to leave for school. He never made it to class at Fremont High School.
The body was discovered in a wooded area in northwest Fremont. It was about a mile from where Kamphaus’ car was found abandoned.
The cause of death is still undetermined and an autopsy was planned. Authorities at the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office say they’ve ruled out foul play.
A vigil at the high school on Sunday night drew about 175 students, teachers and others to mourn the teen’s loss.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont.
