National, state and local experts on wind energy will attend the 5th annual Nebraska Wind Conference on October 22nd and 23rd. John Hansen is the co-chairman with the Nebraska Wind Working Group and says their goal is to advance the wind industry in the state. He says Nebraska is 4th in the nation when it comes to wind energy capacity and more needs to be done to put it to good use.
Hanson says surrounding states generate more energy from wind than Nebraska. He says South Dakota is at 22% and Iowa at 19% compared to only 2 or 3% in Nebraska.
More than 70 experts will be gathering in Lincoln for the two day event. Some of the issues on the agenda include national trends, development, tax credit, industry information and federal and state legislation.
The conference will be held at the Cornhusker Hotel in Lincoln.
