Strong winds have become more than just a bother in Nebraska.
They have closed a portion of I-80.
The National Weather Service reports I-80 and Highway 30 west of Big Springs have been closed, because of the wind which has blown up incredible amounts of dust and reduced visibility. At least one traffic accident has been blamed on the windy, dusty conditions.
Poor visibility also has closed Highway 26 from Lewellen to Ogallala.
The weather service predicts that winds of 40 to 60 miles per hour won’t die down for a while.
