The weekend shooting deaths of two people in Omaha has city officials asking all residents to work together and cooperate with community leaders to stop the gun violence.
On Tuesday, Police Chief Todd Schmaderer says three suspects are in custody in the weekend murder of 16 year old Montrell Wiseman. Three arrests were also made in the September shooting death of Delayno Wright outside of a lounge in west Omaha.
Arthur and Sherry Plunkett joined Chief Schmaderer in asking the community join hands to stop the violence. They are the parents of Wiseman. Arthur Plunkett stated his son was at a family member’s home and Montrell was not associated with gangs. He believes the shooting was gang related and his son was an innocent victim. He is asking that gangs put down their guns and since his son was not a member there is no reason for retaliation.
There have been 32 murders in Omaha to date this year.
