Republican Deb Fischer has declared victory in Nebraska’s race for United States Senate, giving Repubilcans a pick-up in the Senate. Fischer has continued to widen her lead against Democrat Bob Kerrey, who has conceded the race, calling Fischer to congratulate her on the win.
Kerrey failed to win the needed votes in the Omaha area, though he fared well in Lincoln. Fischer held her own in Omaha and won big in outstate Nebraska.
Fischer wins the seat held by United States Sen. Ben Nelson, a Democrat, who is retiring from public service.
