With a third of the vote counted and a commanding lead, Republican incumbent Congressman Adrian Smith has declared victory.
“I am honored and grateful to the people of the Third District for the responsibility and trust they have given me to continue representing them in the U.S. House of Representatives. I congratulate Mark Sullivan for his willingness to engage in the electoral process. The exchange of ideas is good for our country. I thank my family and friends for their unwavering support and encouragement. I also thank my staff and the many volunteers whose tireless efforts made tonight’s victory possible. We are at a pivotal moment in our history, and I look forward to continuing to serve Nebraskans and working to get America back on track,” Smith said in a written statement released by his campaign.
Smith holds a 72% to 27% lead over Democrat Mark Sullivan; 73,232 to 27,902.
