Huskers fans got their first glimpse of Tim Miles basketball team last night in an exhibition game against Midland University. The Huskers won 68-40. Senior Dylan Talley was the only Husker to finish in double figures…he had 10 points and seven rebounds in 23 minutes. Six players had at least eight points and 11 of the 12 Huskers who saw action scored. It was also the return of senior Andre Almeida, who missed all of last season with a knee injury. He finished with nine points, eight rebounds and a pair of blocks.
After a slow start, the Huskers used a 16-2 run in the final five minutes to build a 30-18 lead at the half after trailing 15-14. Nebraska had a seven-point lead at 38-31 with 14:48 remaining before taking control of the game with a 17-2 run.
James Parrott led Midland with a game-high 15 points and seven rebounds.
Nebraska held Midland to just 28.3 percent shooting on the night and forced 24 turnovers in tuning up for Sunday’s season opener against Southern, starting at 6 p.m.
