The 16th ranked Wayne State College women’s basketball team extended their home winning streak to 47 straight games on Tuesday night with a 83-46 season opening win over York College. The win marks the 100th win at Wayne State College for head coach Chris Kielsmeier. He is now 100-25 in his fifth season at WSC.
The Wildcats shot 42.0 percent (29-69), 28.6 percent (8-28) from behind the arc and 68.0 percent (17-25) from the charity stripe in the contest while holding the Panthers to 27.9 percent (17-61) from the field, 27.3 percent (3-11) and 90.0 percent (9-10) from the free throw line. WSC outrebounded YC 47-44 while holding advantages in assists 20-12, blocks 12-1 and 23-6 in steals. The Wildcats forced the Panthers into 27 turnovers while only committing 13 of their own.
