The Atlantic Coast Conference and the Orange Bowl committee announced that the Orange Bowl will annually feature the ACC Champion against an opponent from the Big Ten, SEC or University of Notre Dame as part of the 12-year agreement that begins following the 2014 season. The Huskers have played in the Orange Bowl 17 times, the most of any bowl in school history. The Huskers have an 8-9 record.

With its victory at Illinois last Saturday, Minnesota won its sixth game of the season to become the fifth Big Ten squad to earn bowl eligibility. The Gophers are eligible to appear in their first postseason game since 2009. Minnesota, which eyes its 15th overall appearance in program history, joins Nebraska, Michigan, Northwestern and Wisconsin as the Big Ten’s bowl eligible squads this season. Four other Big Ten teams are within two games of the six-win standard. Michigan State needs one victory, while Indiana, Purdue and Iowa need two wins in the final two weekends of the season to reach bowl eligibility. The Huskers finish the regular season at Iowa.
