Ray Gallegos and Andre Almeida posted career nights, scoring 20 points each, as Nebraska used a 20-2 second half run to pick up its largest road win since 2003 with a 79-63 win over Wake Forest in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge Tuesday evening in Winston-Salem, NC.
Nebraska scored on 16 of 19 possessions to start the second half and built a 24-point second-half lead at one point.
Wake Forest had the lead down to five at 42-37 when Gallegos scored five straight points in a 7-0 run as Nebraska led 49-37, following a Dylan Talley basket. Talley and Gallegos combined for all 20 points, as Nebraska took a 62-40 lead with 8:05 left.
Gallegos hit 8-of-13 shots from the floor, including a career-high matching four 3-pointers, while Almeida posed his first career double, hitting 9-of-10 shots from the floor and grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds.
Nebraska’s 16-point win was its largest margin of victory on the road since a 77-60 win at Minnesota on Dec. 29, 2003, as the Huskers improved to 5-1.
