Wayne State and UNK set for NCAA D-II regional volleyball tournaments

November 29, 2012 By Bill Pollock

The Nebraska-Kearney volleyball team is in the NCAA Tournament for a 14th straight season and will battle MIAA rival Washburn in the first round of the Central Regional today at noon in St. Paul, Minn. The Lopers have a 33-2 record.

Wayne State College will make its eighth straight appearance in the NCAA Division II National Tournament facing Concordia-St. Paul this evening at 7:30 p.m. in the first round of the Central Regional in St. Paul, Minnesota. The Wildcats take a 22-9 record into the contest while the Golden Bears are 27-4 on the season. CU and WSC met twice in the regular season with the Golden Bears winning both matchups.

This Central region is far and away the best as it features five-time defending national champ Concordia-St. Paul and six other Top 16 squads. The Lopers are the third-seed and have beaten the sixth-seeded Lady Blues (31-3) twice this year, 3-0 and 3-2.
