The flu season is off to a very early start in Douglas County. Health Director Dr. Adi Pour says there have been 27 confirmed cases through the month of November. Typically that number is at five or six.
With the spike in the number of confirmed cases Dr. Pour is recommending everyone six months of age and older to get a flu shot. The flu season peaks in February or March and the season typically runs for three months.
Dr. Pour says medical officials are not certain if this is a predictor of things to come but it is best to protect yourself and your loved ones by getting a vaccination. She says it is especially important with the holiday season approaching.
