In the 1960’s and ’70’s many Nebraskans remember taking the drive to Omaha’s Civic Auditorium to attend a concert, trade show, circus or sporting event. The venue opened in 1953 and Mayor Jim Suttle says it is time to close the doors for good.
The Civic will close in June of 2014. Two venues located inside the Civic will also close but an attached parking garage will remain.
The city is searching for a developer to come up with ideas with what to do with the 10 acre site located in downtown Omaha.
