Interstate 80 remains closed from Lincoln to North Platte.
Heavy snow and strong winds created hazardous driving conditions on the interstate, forcing state officials to close it.
A spokeswoman for the Department of Roads says the snowstorm caused a few accidents on the interstate that affected travel as well. A couple of semi-tractor trailers jack-knifed, blocking traffic. An accident at Grand Island also affected traffic flow.
The DOR and the Nebraska State Patrol had hoped to have I-80 open this morning, but haven’t been able to give the go-ahead for traffic to return to normal. The interstate is expected to be re-opened sometime today. For now, I-80 remains snow packed.
I-80 between Lincoln and Omaha remains open.
