A few simple steps can make the holidays truly festive.
Friends and family can bring joy, but sometimes we get so busy we miss out.
Nebraska Division of Behavioral Health Director Scot Adams has some suggestions.
“If you need a nap, take a nap,” Adams says with a chuckle. “Secondly, don’t over drink. Thirdly, enjoy the moment, have some priorities of things you want to accomplish, but don’t get crazy about it.”
The Christmas/New Year’s holiday period can create some high, perhaps unrealistic, expectations.
Adams advises to be intentional, yet open to spontaneous moments. He says we sometimes get so busy we fail to look for the unexpected. Adams says life should be lived with intention, not on auto-pilot.
“Make sure that you remember the point of it is to relax, to enjoy one another, to celebrate and to honor family and friends and relationships.”
