It is one of the largest fireworks displays in the region. Those making the trip to Omaha for New Year’s Eve festivities are invited to the Gene Leahy Mall downtown at 7. Nick Brotzel is the Deputy Communications Director for the city of Omaha and says this is a family friend hour so everyone can come down to the Mall and welcome in the New Year early and then attend other festivities.
Those attending are encouraged to bring a nonperishable food item that benefits the Food Bank for the Heartland that serves Nebraska and western Iowa.
Elderly persons and those with disabilities are welcome to view the fireworks from the fourth floor of the nearby W. Dale Clark Library.
More than 30,000 people are expected at the fireworks show.
