2nd District Nebraska Congressman Lee Terry stuck by his guns and voted no on the budget deal.
Congressman Terry stated it was hard to vote no due to the middle class tax rate extension. He stated he would have voted “yes” had the deal balanced the budget but did not.
The deal includes earmarks. NASCAR, Hollywood, rum producers and even metro riders in New York City get a tax break. Congressman Terry says any time the Senate puts a deal like this together it is loaded with earmarks tax incentives for their pet projects. He says learning about the earmarks made his “no” vote much easier.
3rd District Congressman Adrian Smith also voted against the deal. 1st District Congressman Jeff Fortenberry voted for it.
