Autopsy results were inconclusive regarding the death of a ten year old Omaha boy Friday. Douglas County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Marty Bilek says the Sydney Kola had gone to school Thursday and appeared to be ok but later that evening he took a turn for the worse.
Thursday evening the boy complained of flu-like symptoms and his mother called for an ambulance when he collapsed around midnight. Kola was rushed to one hospital and then transported to a trauma center where he later died.
Douglas County Health Department officials say the symptoms Kola was suffering from were not consistent with the flu strain that is currently hitting the country.
Kola and his mother were from Kenya and had only been in Nebraska for seven months.
