Former Husker Alfonzo Dennard will stand trial on Feb. 11 on charges stemming from his arrest last April after he was accused of assaulting a Lincoln police office, plus two misdemeanors. Dennard was in Lancaster County Court yesterday and missed the New England Patriots practice. Dennard starts for the Pats and they face Baltimore in the AFC playoffs. If they win, he’ll play in the Super Bowl on Feb. 3, then stand trial eight days later.
In a recent interview with ProPlayerInsider.com, former Husker linebacker Will Compton says he has not received an invite to the NFL Combine, which in addition to interviews, mostly looks at a wide range of speed and agility drills. Compton says his advantage is his knowledge of the game. He’s working out at the NFL Players Association Bowl game in California.
