After former Lt. Governor Rick Sheehy’s quick resignation Saturday, Governor Dave Heineman started the process of finding his replacement. He says there are certain regulations in the selection process.
Governor Heineman stated current state senators are not eligible. The State Constitution says they are prohibited from serving when the Legislature is in session. He also stated he does not want to wait for the end of the session to fill the Lt. Governor seat.
Governor Heineman stated it could take several weeks for the new Lt. Governor to be announced. He started receiving a number of suggestions from Nebraskans.
