The nationally-ranked Creighton men’s basketball team will travel to Moraga, Calif., and take on Saint Mary’s in the marquee matchup for the 2013 BracketBusters series. The pairings were announced on Monday evening on ESPNU. Creighton and Saint Mary’s will meet at 5 pm Central on either ESPN or ESPN2 on Saturday, February 23rd.

“We’re excited with the opportunity to play Saint Mary’s in front of a national television audience” said Creighton coach Greg McDermott. “Randy (Bennett) does a great job and always has his team ready to play.”

Creighton is 20-3 on the season and owns an RPI of 28. Saint Mary’s is 19-4 and owns an RPI of 58, including a 13-0 home record. Creighton is ranked 13th & 16th in this week’s national polls, while Saint Mary’s is among those schools receiving votes in both polls.  Creighton and Saint Mary’s have split four all-time match-ups. Creighton defeated the Gaels 79-73 on Dec. 20, 1979 in the last meeting of the schools.

Creighton is 7-3 all-time in BracketBusters match-ups, including a 5-2 mark in televised games and a 3-0 mark against teams from California.
