Rhonda Revelle became the all-time wins leader in the history of Nebraska Athletics on Sunday, as her 25th-ranked Husker softball team swept a doubleheader from Oklahoma State, winning the opener, 3-0, before taking the nightcap, 10-5.
The game two win was Revelle’s 768th victory as a Husker, moving her past former baseball coach John Sanders (1978-1997) atop Nebraska’s all-time, all-sport coaching wins list. Revelle, an NFCA Hall-of-Fame coach in her 21st season at NU, owns a 768-412 (.651) record at Nebraska.
“Nebraska is known for its exceptional coaches, so this is a tremendous and humbling honor,” Revelle said following a postgame team meeting where the Huskers unveiled a banner proclaiming her ‘Nebraska’s All-Time Winningest Coach’.” Sunday’s wins over Oklahoma State improved Nebraska’s 2013 season record to 14-5, with all five losses coming to top-20 opponents.
On Saturday, Revelle’s Huskers notched the program’s second all-time victory over a No. 1 opponent, upsetting Oklahoma, 1-0, after the Sooners opened the year with 17 consecutive wins, including eight victories over ranked opponents.
Nebraska continues their eight-game road trip at Wichita State next weekend before ending the trip at UNO on Tuesday, March 12. The Huskers open their home schedule at Bowlin Stadium on Friday, March 15 at 6 p.m. against New Mexico State. Revelle will be honored for her milestone victory prior to first pitch.
