24th ranked Nebraska (23-8) earned its third NCAA Tournament bid in the last four years by claiming the No. 6 seed in the Norfolk (Va.) Regional. The Huskers will face Southern Conference champion Chattanooga (29-3, 19-1 SoCon) on Saturday, March 23, at 5:30 p.m. (central time) at Reed Arena in College Station, Texas. The game is scheduled to be televised live by ESPN2.
Creighton women’s basketball (24-7) has earned its second at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament in program history, earning a No. 10 seed in the Oklahoma City Region. The Jays will open NCAA Tournament play against No. 7 seed Syracuse (24-7) of the Big East at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tenn., on Saturday, March 23 at 10:20 AM CT.
If Nebraska wins, they will face the winner of Texas A&M and Wichita State. The Aggies, who tied for fourth in the regular-season SEC standings, will face Missouri Valley Conference champion Wichita State (24-9, 15-3 Missouri Valley) at 3 p.m. The Shockers are a No. 14 seed in the regional. The Lady Mocs earned the No. 11 seed in the Norfolk Regional after earning an automatic bid by claiming their 14th SoCon Tournament title.
The winner of the Creighton-Syracuse game will play on Monday against the winner of the game between No. 15 seed Oral Roberts and No. 2 seed Tennessee. All games will be broadcast on ESPN2.
