The Nebraska baseball team (8-15) outhit the Kansas State Wildcats (17-8) on Tuesday night in Manhattan, 14-13, but it was the Wildcats who won in the end by a final of 10-8.
The Huskers certainly made it interesting. Down 10-6 in the ninth, NU scored two and had the go-ahead run at the plate in Austin Darby, but Tanner Witt got Darby to fly out to end the game. Darby went 3-for-6 night, including a three-run home run and a double. Four other Huskers had two hits each, and Pat Kelly, Michael Pritchard and Wes Edrington also doubled.
Kansas State leadoff man Ross Kivett led the Wildcats as he was 3-for-4 with five RBIs on a double and a triple.
After playing 12-straght road games, the Huskers return to Hawks Field on Friday for their Big Ten home opener with Northwestern.
