A Papillion woman continues to fight for her life after suffering 2nd and 3rd degree burns over her entire body. 48 year old Theresa Harazin of Papillion was airlifted to a hospital in Omaha Friday afternoon after the RV she was driving burst into flames. Regena White was driving on Highway 370 in Sarpy County and says the RV had pulled over and then she saw the flames. She says many passing buy stopped to help. Some opened their trunk and got out tools to break the windows and others were trying to break in the door to assist in the rescue.
Papillion Fire Chief Bill Bowes says a gas leak in the engine compartment caused the fire which quickly spread to the living area of the RV. A male passenger and those who stopped to help pulled Harazin from the burning vehicle. She was then airlifted to the Nebraska Medical Center’s trauma unit.
The male passenger did suffer minor injuries but did not require hospitalization. The couple’s dog escaped unharmed.
